welcome to the playroom

Just after lunch today when I was sitting in the back garden knitting I heard the dog next door barking crazily which usually means that the parcel postman is coming to my house.
Today there were four parcels, two with mohair yarn for dolly hair, one with mohair wefts for dolly hair and one box full of magic and love and a little doll called Lunette.

I gave her a hug and checked that she was all in one piece and then we opened the other parcels.
She took some convincing that I wasn't about to give her new hair with all the makings of dolly hair all around us but once I had  placed her cute new crown on her head  she was happy and we went out to the garden for a little look around

She blew on the dandelion and figured it was around 2.30.
She managed to stay awake until my daughter came home from school and then I could see she was getting sleepy, it had been a big day.

We popped her into her pretty pyjamas and showed her the cosy bed.
She climbed in cuddling her snuggly bear blankie and made sure there was a spot for rabbit as well, and butterfly.
I'm sure I saw her sleepy eyes open a little wider when she saw all the books and toys and caught sight of all the other girls waiting to meet her up on the window seat but that will have to wait.

First a story.
Charlie has decided she is Lunette's big sister and she read her the new Belle and Boo story book

Lunette's eyelids were getting heavier and heavier.
Charlie told her about all the adventures the dollies have in the playroom.
Lunette smiled a sleepy little smile, she was going to like this place.
Charlie tiptoed away.

Have a lovely sleep sweetie

Meeting the natives

Lunette has had a quiet time so far. With much sickness in the house, getting out and about has been difficult. Today we went for a wander in the garden and found some very interesting mushroom folk.

"Um.. she isn't going to eat me, right?"
No Lunette, Jill won't eat you.

"Oh! A fairy!"

Hello Lunette, time to wake up.

Josh thinks Lunette is amazing and wants to know if we can keep her, "Cause she is cool, mum"

Lunette goes to Ottawa

On Friday I had to go to Ottawa and thought this would be a great time to
take Lunette and show her Canada's Capitol

Ottawa is about 4 hours from us so we got ready for a road trip.

We stopped along the way to stretch our legs and to look at the lakes and rivers.

When we arrived downtown, we saw a Military band marching towards Parliament Hill

Many people had gathered in front of the Parliament buildings

....looking over their heads we saw why.
The changing of the guards took place.

How cool is that??

After watching the marching band and military drills performed by the Ceremonial Guard for a while we got hot and decided to go see the Rideau Canal
in the back of Parliament Hill.
In the winter it is the longest outdoor skating ring.

Lunette climbed on one of the cast iron fences to pose for a picture.

It was getting very hot and we spend the rest of our stay shopping in
air conditioned stores
and then made our way back home

We stopped along the way in Petawawa where our family lived years ago
to show Lunette the Ottawa River with all the little islands.
Can you see how dry the grass is?

We had a wonderful trip and Lunette enjoyed all the things she saw.
This week she will say good bye to us and Canada.
WI guess it's time to start packing ......

PS: You can click on all the pictures to see them bigger!

Canada Day

Lunette joined us on Sunday for Canada's 145th birthday celebrations.

We went down to the waterfront in the evening
where the sun was just disappearing ino a big cloud.

It was still very nice and not too hot or humid.
Lunette got ato ride in my backpack holding her Canada flag.
Many people gathered at the stage to hear local bands play.

Lunette had a great time watching the ducks with their ducklings on the lake.

When it got dark , around 10:00pm, we watched the beautiful fireworks.

A great finish to a wonderful relaxing day!

Lunette in the garden....

Lunette came to see my little garden.
There isn't that much to see since we just moved here last fall,
but she did not care and showed a lot of interest in the flowers

She was fascinated by the Fushias.
They look so pretty with their two color blossoms and almost like made out of plastic.

I never had a rosebush in my garden before .
It's so exciting to see how well it is doing.

Lunette loves the pink flowers, but was careful not to touch the thorns.

She was wondering what was planted in this container and I explained that they are Morning Glories,
that have been in our family for many, many years.
They are self seeding and can survive even Canadian winters.
The container was too tall for her to look in so I had to lift her up to see the seedlings.

I showed Lunette a picture of what they will look like in a few weeks.

She climbed onto our hanging strawberries to get a better look and almost fell off!
I just caught her in time.....
Puuuuh...
There's nothing better then fresh strawberries !!

Lunette wanted me to take a picture of her with the daisies.
Did you know that it's her favorite flower?
We share the love for all daisy shape flowers!
They are so much taller then she is.  :0)

I still wanted her to pose for a picture among the yellow flowers in our backyard.

It's a field of yellow and orange Hawkweed.
Still very pretty,don't you think?

New PJ's ....

Little Lunette did not have any PJ's yet that would keep her warm at night.
We know up here in Canada how cold the nights can be, especially in the winter.
She will still travel quiet a bit and I'm sure they will come in handy.
We looked at all my fabrics and our girl picked out a pretty pink and striped one .

Lunette saw the bunny blankies I make and she really loves them.
They are way too big for her of course and so I made a blankie just for her that she can cuddle with.
Since she has already a bunny I made her a bear.

It's just perfect for her and always by her side!

Posing for pictures is hard work at times and it was already quiet late so
sweet Lunette started to head for bed....

 She LOVES that craddle....

....and made sure her bear would join her.

There ...they made it!
She looks so contend .

Night, night Lunette!
